Hendrik was born on September 13th, 1904.  Hendrik's father was Mans Sikkenga and his mother was Grietje Sliekers.  His paternal grandparents were Jans (geboren Rensje) Sikkenga and Geessien Meppelink of Meppeling. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Jan, Jans, Geesje and Willemtje.  He was the youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 86 on April 22nd, 1991.
