Grietje was born on March 3rd, 1933. Grietje's father was Hendrik Sikkenga and her mother was Janke Pater. Her paternal grandparents were Mans Sikkenga and Grietje Sliekers; her maternal grandparents were Roelof Pater and Sjoukje Vecht van der. She has five brothers named Roelof, Mans, Sjoerd, Jan and Hendrik Jan. She is the oldest of the six children.-
